Two more projects under my belt...

pwm_LED.jpg

More exercises from the "Physical Computing" Book by Dan O'Sullivan and Tom Igoe. The photo above concerns a circuit and program to aproximate light dimming through PWM or Pulse Width Modulation, this circuit used a capacitor and resistor together to make a "Smoothing Circuit". According to the text the "low pass filter" needs some tweaking depending on the values of the capacitor and resistor.

I found my combo to be a bit rough still. The light was pulsing quickly enough to be dimmed, but still perceptible to the eye.

The second drill was "Generating Tone". It was as simple as hooking small buzzer up the #7 pin on my Basic AtomPro24. The code did the rest. The code made use of an array to hold the values of the Tones or pitch. I am still not sure how they arrived at the particular value for a "middle C".

I am gaining more confidence that I will not be frying my chip at the moment. Every project opens a little more of the range of possible tools to realize my physical computing ideas.

More later from this great book. If you haven't purchased this book please go now and get it on Amazon:
